Mr. Nimetz,

I am writing to you regarding the seizure on January 28, 2009 by the FYROM police of Mr. Vasil Gligorov’s (Vasilije Gligorijvic) when they charged into his apartment where they arrested him purportedly because of his activist actions. During his seizure, all his home computers were taken by the authorities and his personal web site was subsequently terminated.

Mr. Gligorov, a university graduate student in history, has devoted his efforts at improving Slavic-Greek friendship through the advancement of historiographic and anthropological scholarship about Southern Slavs in the Balkans and Greeks, as well as various aspects of the their mutual cultural and political relations. He is a strong critic of the extreme nationalistic narrative of «Makedonism» and one of the leading members of the Slavic Philhellenic Network. The existence of Mr. Gligorov was first denied by the FYROM authorities, but due to outside pressure they divulged that he was being held (imprisoned) at a psychiatric hospital where he has been administered heavy doses of drugs and has suffered physical and mental abuse.

The authorities maintain that Mr. Gligorov has mental problems and that he was taken to the institution at the request of his mother (an employee of one of the FYROM national TV channels).

The following sites provide information pertinent to this case for you to best judge this situation.

At the following site you will find an accounting of a personal visit from a person who managed to visit Mr. Vasil Gligorov at the detention facility: http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/92159

The following sites contain various writings of Mr. Gligorov prior to his detainment. I believe you will find these very scholarly and intellectual and extremely unlikely to be written by anyone with mental problems as claimed by the FYROM authorities.
